The butterfly bed might have had a distinctive shape, but it was time consuming to maintain the edging as the grass grew over it. We hoped to make it easier to manage by placing wooden edging around the bed, which has the additional benefit of making the outline clearer.
The park gardeners provided some more topsoil to "top up" the bed. The first photograph shows the large bag of soil beside the bed.
With some of the new topsoil in place and the edging over half way complete, the effect of the new edge can be seen in the next photograph.
